A Little Boutique Hotel Magic in Florence
Three nights at Residenza La Musa Amarcord, Florence, Italy

Florence ended up being one of my favourite stops during our 16 days in Italy, and I think where we stayed had a little something to do with that.
When I was planning our trip, I wanted somewhere special. A boutique hotel with character, beautiful interiors and a location that meant we could explore Florence on foot. Then I found Residenza La Musa Amarcord, a small, four-star boutique property housed in an 18th-century Florentine building, just moments from the Arno River.
The photos online were gorgeous, and although it was a little more expensive than other places I'd considered, nothing else quite compared. So I booked it. And I'm so glad I did.
First Impressions
You know when you arrive somewhere and immediately feel like you've made the right decision? That was this place. From the enormous wooden entrance door to the beautiful interiors, it had so much character.
We were welcomed by the loveliest staff, who handed us a sealed envelope, complete with a wax seal, containing our room information and keys.
Was the wax seal necessary? Absolutely not. Did I love it? Obviously.
It's those little details that make somewhere feel special. And despite being in a historic building, the property even had an elevator. A very welcome discovery when travelling around Italy with luggage.

A Room Worth Coming Back To
Our room was elegant, spacious and incredibly comfortable. The bed was lovely, but the bathroom was the real showstopper. Two sinks, a clawfoot bathtub, and separate glass-enclosed spaces for the shower and toilet. Honestly, it was gorgeous.
There was also a cosy shared sitting area on our floor, complete with a couch and bookshelves. It felt more like staying in a beautiful Florentine residence than a traditional hotel.

It's the Little Things
What really made our stay memorable was the hospitality. The staff shared recommendations for restaurants, gelato, sightseeing and the best times to visit Florence's highlights. Downstairs, there was a charming little restaurant where we enjoyed delicious coffee and a lovely breakfast spread of croissants, jams and other treats.
One morning, we had an early departure for our Chianti wine tour, so the staff packed breakfast for us to take along. Such a simple gesture, but so thoughtful.
They even arranged our taxi when it was time to leave. Nothing felt like too much trouble.

Florence on Your Doorstep
The location was another reason I loved staying here. We were just moments from the Arno River, close to Ponte Vecchio and within walking distance of so many of Florence's highlights. Even our wine tour meeting point was around the corner.
We spent our days wandering the historic streets, stopping for food and gelato, and enjoying the city without worrying about transportation.
Being so close to the river also meant beautiful evening walks as the sun went down. For a city like Florence, I couldn't have asked for a better location.

Would I Stay Again?
In a heartbeat. For three nights, we paid $1,371.31 CAD, plus approximately $29.82 CAD in local taxes. It was definitely a splurge, but between the beautiful room, fantastic location and genuinely lovely staff, I felt it was worth every penny.
I honestly can't think of anything I didn't love.
If you're planning a trip to Florence and want somewhere with a little extra character, Residenza La Musa Amarcord is absolutely worth considering.
And if I ever find myself back in Florence? I already know where I'd love to stay.
